Welcome to the SaveFatherChristmas.com Weblog

My name is Billy, I am a very proud Australian, and I decided to create this website, to educate people that we are losing our proud heritage and lifestyles to the American way of life! It saddens me a great deal, that kids these days are bought up on Santa Claus and not Father Christmas a perfect example on how we are losing our language to Americanisms!

Father Christmas or Santa Claus?

December 19th, 2007

Bring our children up with ”Father Christmas” or bring them up with ”Santa Claus”? What do you think? Please vote in the Poll at my Beaut Utes website here

For Australian and Non Australian people viewing this website, I would like to ask you not to take the site too seriously, basically this website has a message to all Australians and also people of other Commonwealth countries that we need to be aware of how we are losing our unique languages to “American Lingo” or Americanisms.

A prime example of this is how the term “Santa” and “Santa Claus” has jumped into our everyday language without us even realising…. thus the term “Father Christmas” is rarely used these days when referring to him in front of our children, neices, nephews and so forth.

It bothers me a great deal when I hear Santa this and Santa that, thats exactly the reason why I decided to create this Save Father Christmas website.

Yes, you might say, who cares, there are far more important things in life? Yes I know that, but you should care about the message this site gives, I can guarantee you that it wont be long until we Australians, English and New Zealanders are celebrating Thanksgiving! I reckon probably within the next 5 to 10 years that we will be celebrating Thanksgiving, just for the sake of celebrating it, and because the media and large shopping outlets can make millions and millions of dollars out of it.

Already Halloween has been introduced into our Australian Culture over the last few years, and just like the term Santa Claus has.

Who can we blame for this? Obviously the number one culprit would have to be the commercialised media, and also as I mentioned above, the large mega shopping chains make millions of dollars from us, whether it be us buying stuff for Halloween, and other celebratory events that are not even relevant to our culture.

Like I say, our language is too important to lose, not only is Santa an example, but many times over the last couple of years I have heard Australians using the terms “Bathroom” in stead of Toilet, “Ketchup” instead of Tomato Sauce, “Trash Can” instead of rubbish bins and so on … just listen to people talking and I am sure you will hear American words being used in our language.

No-ones perfect, even I admit to using some words that are americanised without even realising. But Santa is definately a big NO for me!

Save Father Christmas Radio Interview

December 14th, 2007

Well, I must apologise for my disappearance from writing any posts at Save Father Christmas as I have been so very busy with my other website namely Beaut Utes

I am still and will always have strong views on our Australian and no doubt the United Kingdom and New Zealand’s cultures losing our culture to Americanisms, such as how we are losing the term Father Christmas from our Aussie/POM/Kiwi English vocabulary thanks to the Australian Media becoming more Americanised (Apart from ABC BBC and SBS)

Its only another 11 days till Christmas arrives and yes, not once and I say again not once have I heard the term “Father Christmas” mentioned on commecialised TV … not that I watch it much apart from the news sometimes … I am pretty turned off by all the commercialised & americanised crap on commercial TV … just watch the news on commercial TV and you’ll see how Americanised the news presenters are.

I remember as a child, we would go to the Local Christmas Tree, a local town function where “Father Christmas”, not Santa, would arrive on a Puffing Billy Train on car wheels, we would be so excited seeing him arrive, throwing lollies off the train.

But any way, today I got a phone call from ABC Midwest a radio station located in Geralton Western Australia, and they would like to interview me about this website … so thats pretty exciting and a touch scary, but should be interested on what feedback I get from my interview.

Dont take me too seriously about this website, all I am trying to state is that we > namely Australian people and like I say, people of other commonwealth countries are losing their heritage to Americanisms … I do think it is the media to blame, because all we are bombarded with on TV these days is Americanized dribble…. nothing beats a good show on ABC or SBS or just listening to the ABC talkback radio … my Favourite is Tony Delroy, Geoff Hutchinson, Eoin Cameron and Russel Woolf… love the talkback!

I think it has probably only been the last 10 years since “Santa” has squeezed his way into our culture … I realised the term Santa is only just a word used to describe the same person as Father Christmas … but I hate it.

Another thing that really peeves me is these commercialised TV Channels offering cash prizes for the best houses in Perth and other states in Australia with the most decorated and lit up Christmas Light Decorated Houses, some of these houses are lit up like a house on fire.

Why does it peeve me? Well these commercialised TV Channels, such as Channel 7 warn us about global warming and to reduce our household energy consumption, such as the Channel 7 Sunrise Programs Male Presenter David Koch who promoted the environment cause website Cool The Globe and yet Channel Seven are promoting massive energy consumption for the Best Decorated Christmas Lights House in Perth and other Australian States…. obviously they probably get a big bonus from Western Power for this promotion.

Bloody Stupid if you ask me and really sickens me.

Santa Given his marching orders!

Vienna - Santa Claus is being banned from Christmas markets in the European countries of Germany and Austria.

Anti-Santa campaigners say that Father Christmas was invented by Coca-Cola and detracts from the true spirit of the festive season.

Austria’s biggest Christmas market is in front of the Vienna city hall where thousands of visitors stroll past stalls offering everything related to Christmas - everything, that is, except Santa.

The only Father Christmas to be seen is the one in the middle of the occasional “Ban Santa” stickers.

A Vienna city hall spokesperson said: “There are rules governing what stallholders can do and one of them is to agree not to use the image of Santa as a condition of being able to trade there.

“Santa is an English language creation, people who want to see him should go to America where I am sure Coca Cola will be happy to oblige.”

The move in Vienna has been copied by Christmas markets across Austria and Germany where St Nicholas is the traditional bearer of Christmas gifts.

Bettina Schade, from the Frankfurter Nicholas Initiative in Germany, commented: “We object to the material things, the hectic rush to buy gifts, and the ubiquity of the bearded man in the red suit that are taking away from the core meaning of Christmas.

“The Christian origins of Christmas, like the birth of Jesus, have receded into the background. It’s becoming more and more a festival that is reduced to simply worldly gifts and commerce.” - Ananova.com

Merry Christmas is Insulting and Happy Christmas is not?

October 17th, 2007

Someone left a very valid comment on my Save Father Christmas blog today … and she is American!

Hello–I am an American and have a question: Does Father Christmas look like Santa? Does he have a red suit, beard, and big belly? I am just wondering–pardon my lack of knowledge regarding him. Thank you for putting the ‘disclaimer’ at the bottom of your rant that not all Americans are ‘bad’–we aren’t, it’s just the bad ones seem to overshadow the good people we have over here. And I know what you mean about other culture’s traditions taking over; in order for America to be ‘politically correct’ we have to honor EVERYONES traditions in order to not offend anyone. So yes, I do know what you are referring to in a way. It has even gotten to the point where many businesses won’t use the term “Merry Christmas” (it has to be ‘hapy holidays’) in order not to ‘offend’ people of other religions. Oh puh-leez. All of us need to stick to our roots–so yes, this American can sympathize with you.

Her message is that of in America and even Australia we are so “Politically Correct” these days.

It is getting to the stage where “Merry Christmas” is offensive to people so now we have to say “Happy Christmas”

Christmas Carols are know longer sung is schools due to the offence it can cause to other cultures,

Whats our society coming too?

 Political Correctness

Political correctness (PC or politically correct) is a term used to describe language, ideas, policies, or behaviour seen as seeking to minimize offence to racial, cultural, or other identity groups. The term is also used in a broader sense to describe adherence to any political or cultural orthodoxy. Conversely, the term politically incorrect is used to refer to language or ideas that may cause offense; or that are unconstrained by orthodoxy.

The term itself and its usage are hotly contested. The term “political correctness” is used almost exclusively in a pejorative sense.[Those who use the term in a critical fashion often express a concern that public discourse, academia, and the sciences have been dominated by excessive liberal viewpoints.

Some commentators, usually on the political left, have argued that the term “political correctness” is a straw man invented by the New Right to discredit progressive social change, especially around issues of race and gender

72 days to Christmas!

October 14th, 2007

Well with 72 days till Christmas, already I have started seeing Christmas stuff being advertised in shops, decorations, shortbread, tinned plum puddings, christmas trees and so forth.

Heard Santa being mentioned on the media also, no mention of Father Christmas … come on everyone, please pass the word! Save Father Christmas!

The Anti Santa Claus Website! Aussies, Kiwis and Pommies United We Stand!

October 3rd, 2007

Save Father Christmas! Get rid of Americanisms and get rid of Santa Claus from our Australian, New Zealand and United Kingdom Societies!

Father Christmas is the name used in the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and several other Commonwealth countries and unfortunately the term Father Christmas is dying in our beloved countries due to the introduction of “Americanisms” being introduced to our children via Teleivision Media, Text Media, and so much more.

I am calling for the removal of Santa Claus from our Aussie, Kiwi and Pommie languages and asking for all people Non-American to refer to him in front of thier children as Father Christmas from now on, because I am sick of Americanisms being introduced to our proud societies via movies, media, text media and so forth!!

I am also calling for the Australian, UK, New Zealand and other commonwealth media organisations to say Father Christmas when referring to the big fat guy in the red suit with the long white beard as Father Christmas and not bloody Santa Claus!

We need to all unite to get rid of Santa Claus from our americanism brainwashed vocabulary and start bringing our Children up on Father Christmas and never, ever, ever use the American term Santa or Santa Claus in front of our precious children of Australia, England and New Zealand!

Just wait and see … when Christmas advertising starts to hit us via Television ads, Radio Ads, Media Ads and so forth, never once will those ads refer to Father Christmas … it will be the Americanised version of Santa Claus .. and I know when you hear it, you will be reminded of this website SaveFatherChristmas.com!

I remember as a child growing up in Australia, we rareley head the term Santa Claus, and when we did it was usually on the old American christmas movies and soap operas … but now it seems that the term Father Christmas is on the verge of dying from our language.

All we seem to hear now in Australia during the christmas season is Santa this and Santa that, it sickens me somewhat that little Australian kids these days only talk about Santa Claus and not Father Christmas.

There is nothing worse than hearing the Australian media talking of Santa Claus … it sickens me.

We are losing our proud Australian heritage and our beautiful unique language to Americanisms and I know it is the same in England, New Zealand and other commonwealth countries.

This needs to stop, and it starts with you, and if you are parents, you need to bring your children up with Father Christmas, not bloody Santa Claus. You need to ask your kids what do they want from Father Christmas, not what they want from Santa or Santa Claus.

When shopping, you need to ask them do you want to sit on Father Christmas’s lap, not bloody Santas lap!

I am a very proud Australian and I am sick to death of the American way of life being introduced to our society and our Children being bought up to the American way of life.

I do not have any predujice towards Americans, I have good American friends, but I love Father Christmas, I will bring my children up on Father Christmas during christmas time and never refer to him as Santa Claus.

I ask you to please spread the word to all your friends about this website SaveFatherChristmas.com, vote in the polls and bring your children up during the christmas season on Father Christmas and never refer to him as Santa or Santa Claus.

Save Father Christmas! Get rid of Americanisms and get rid of Santa Claus from our Australian, New Zealand and United Kingdom Societies!
